France Probe Data Breach After Cyberattack on Government Agency
Officials confirmed that an information security incident was identified on April 15, involving possible unauthorized access to both private and professional user accounts. The issue was detected within the National Agency for Secure Documents, the body responsible for managing official services such as vehicle registrations, driving licenses, and national identity documentation.
Authorities said the potential breach may have exposed a range of personal information. This includes login credentials, full names, email addresses, dates of birth, and unique account identifiers. Reports also indicate that more sensitive details such as postal addresses, places of birth, and telephone numbers could have been accessed in the incident.
The Interior Ministry stated that an investigation is underway to determine the full scope of the breach and how it occurred. It also confirmed that individuals potentially affected by the incident are being contacted directly and informed of the situation.
Officials have not yet disclosed details about the suspected attackers or whether any data has been confirmed as fully compromised, but described the incident as a serious cybersecurity issue involving a critical national digital infrastructure platform.
